Thai Thai Cookery School/Long Necks
Hey ya'll
First off; we know about what happened in Siem Reap today(yesterday?). That is bad ju-ju and we are glad we arn't there now.
Yesterday we went on a thing to see the hill tribes. Ok. Do NOT go on a trek to see the Long-Necks! 1. They don't even come from here. They are indiginous to Burma. 2. They have been placed in fake villages , only the women mind you to be put on display for stupid tourists. 3. They wear these copper coils that weight a ton to make their necks really long and it is horrible and cruel. 4. The people we saw, it turns out arent even from Burma but some strange subplant by the government of another tribe (Pagong) made to look like them. This was an embarrassement to both of us and probably a human-rights violation!
Possitive feedback: The cooking school was great! We met Ann(a flamer dude and Nok a quiet woman), they took us to the market where we learned about shopping and the different kinds of food. This is where we discovered the nasty thing in Sunita's curry was actually some strange eggplant. Then a boat ride to this estate-like place. We made two soups, Pad Thai, stir fry, curry and a desert that was to die for. Sticky rice with mango! Sunita particularly liked and was good at vegetable carving. I made a pumpkin-jack-o-latern face as I was highly unprofiecient in the endeavor!
Heading to bangkok tommorrow and then to SF. Then home again, home again. If I had ruby slippers ; it would be sooner!
