We made it back in one piece

Hey ya'll.
We returned to ABQ yesterday afternoon. The flights were gloriously sleep filled! We ended up with a short row all to ourselves which aided in the sleeping. There were no puke-fests like on the flight over. I havn't spoken to Sunita yet so I can't speak for her; but I am jet-lagged. Waking up at odd hours in the am and not getting back to sleep. It may be time for those little blue pills so easily obtained in the Chiang Mai pharmacy!

Thank you all for hangin out with us on our trip. It was great fun reading your posts. All in all the trip was great! We had one hell of a trip. I havn't laughed so hard in years! Sunita is a great travel partner and I can honestly say that she did "pull my ass out of the Mekong" on a couple of occasions.

More pictures to come as soon as we see eachother again. Maybe some new ones from the Taos Solar Music Festival we will be attending this weekend!

Thai Thai Cookery School/Long Necks

Hey ya'll
First off; we know about what happened in Siem Reap today(yesterday?). That is bad ju-ju and we are glad we arn't there now.

Yesterday we went on a thing to see the hill tribes. Ok. Do NOT go on a trek to see the Long-Necks! 1. They don't even come from here. They are indiginous to Burma. 2. They have been placed in fake villages , only the women mind you to be put on display for stupid tourists. 3. They wear these copper coils that weight a ton to make their necks really long and it is horrible and cruel. 4. The people we saw, it turns out arent even from Burma but some strange subplant by the government of another tribe (Pagong) made to look like them. This was an embarrassement to both of us and probably a human-rights violation!

Possitive feedback: The cooking school was great! We met Ann(a flamer dude and Nok a quiet woman), they took us to the market where we learned about shopping and the different kinds of food. This is where we discovered the nasty thing in Sunita's curry was actually some strange eggplant. Then a boat ride to this estate-like place. We made two soups, Pad Thai, stir fry, curry and a desert that was to die for. Sticky rice with mango! Sunita particularly liked and was good at vegetable carving. I made a pumpkin-jack-o-latern face as I was highly unprofiecient in the endeavor!

Heading to bangkok tommorrow and then to SF. Then home again, home again. If I had ruby slippers ; it would be sooner!

update

Ok. Its come to our attention that many of you do not know how to properly say "chatta".
Cha--as in cha cha the dance, tta-as in "ta ta -darling". put it together.

Today has been less hot and more overcast with intermittant showers. Tommorrow we go on a little day trip to visit the hill tribes. Chiang Mai is really cool. The people are very pleasant and the town has the lay out and feel of a European village. The rooms are cheap. Food has been the same where ever we go. Around 5$ for dinner and drinks if in restaurant. 2 or 3 at a stall. Northern Thai food is more like what we have ABQ. We are taking a cooking lesson day after next and we will, ofcourse, have a demonstration of our new found expertise upon arrival for those lucky souls in NM.
Going to a parade and night bazzare tonight. We post how it goes.
Also: internet is fast and cheap here. Personal emails and or postings are always welcome and we will respond.

a tuk-tuk has four wheels

Michael Jackson Aquitted! What the hell? Chatta!

Ok, folks, we're in Chiang Mai now. It is beautiful. It is still incredibly hot and Jenny will be coming back in the form of a baggy of water! straw not included.
We stayed last night at the Galare guesthouse. 22$ too expensive and bitchy waitress with crap food. So today we switched to a cheaper guesthouse 7$ a night. The people are nicer and its closer to everything. Eagle two GH. Tonight we will be attending the big festival/parade. Its the holiest of holy days of the year. We just happened to be here for it. How fortunate!

Pictures coming , check out the site. more Tonle sap and hill tribes to come.
miss you all.

hotter than....

Good morning ya'll.....please check out the delightful photos at our webshot site. For those of our fans who don't quite understand the concept of the tuk-tuk, it is a three wheeled moto with the passenger compartment covered...this doesn't make for an easy ride through the jungle, but we have had the best times while riding in them. It is a great way to see the country side. The Cambodians build their houses on stilts to protect them from the monsoons. They are small one to two room houses, and it seems that most of the activity occurs outside of the quarters. The people here have suffered such unbearable pain...it is hard to conceive of the immense suffering. We have been having the time of our lives; we can't remember the last time we laughed this much...it is so easy to find humor in such trivial things...I LOVE IT.....SHIFT KEY IS STUCK...DAMN IT JIM.......WE HAVEN'T SENT ANY POSTCARDS SO DON'T FEEL LEFT OUT. IT HAS BEEN MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE EVEN THOUGH IT IS LOW SEASON....WE ARE OFF TO THE LAKE TO SEE A FLOATING VILLAGE AND HAVE A PICNIC.
MUCH LUV TO YOU ALL...

Who is deleting their posts?

We are leaving Siem Reap on Monday, going to Chiang Mai, Thailand on same day. We have done the ruins. Pictures are a bitch to get on net. We are trying, people! It takes forever and its hot out!

Monkies attacked tuk-tuk today. Big fun for everyone. Not so much for Jenny. We are going to Tonle Sap tommorrow and seeing Khmer dancing tonight. Should be great fun. Having a lovely time; the heat and humidity is crazy... same same.

Terry, is Dr. Will Mathews in Cambodia? I swear I saw him today in Siem Reap. Much love to all who blog and look at pictures.

Angkor Wat was a dream come true; 3 days plenty o'time to see more than you can process.

not alone at molly malone's

First off: WHAT THE HELL?
you all need to start sharing the love! we are two lonely women in a strange land; where are the posts? email, perhaps...

So, we are talking to this older guy from malaysia today, asking questions and chatting. i say something like "I'm the calm one" AND the guy says" I know, i was sitting behind you at molly malones last night and i heard everything. " SO maybe some of you were mentioned in the conversation; you will be told what about privately at my disgression. Sunita will be performing there for the next three nights.

Cool ruins seen today. pics tomorrow. saw Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom, and Bayon and ofcourse Angkor Wat. Too many tourists at angkor wat. talked with two different monks trying to learn english. mobbed by hordes of children trying to sell stuff. i offer you discount!

Tuk Tuk driver sings songs to us. he hit on jenny, you very strong! how old are you? we think it is the boobs.

better start showing the love. or no more from us!

Two Monks on a Moto....

How do you get to the pharmacy? Just go past the two monks on a moto, turn left at the foaming at the mouth guy, straight past the kid peeing in the street and voila; 5yr old amoxicillian! No soma, crap...

Saw the royal palace and heard too much about the killing fields. The evenings entertainment consisted of Sunita being mistaken for a Ballywood movie star and changing roles with a cyclo driver. See photos to come. It really was hysterical; locals were belly laughing for at least two blocks at the sight of lady from india and her "body-guard", jenny aka "chatta"(sunita told everyone my name was chatta). so sunita giving cyclo ride to the driver; people screaming "hay, chatta" to me; very amusing!

We are in Siem Reap now. Going to Angkor at sunset; pictures to post soon. love you all.

staying at Dead Fish Tower Inn; if you want to look it up.

Singing in the Rain

Hey yall,
We are in Phnom Penh now. There were some issues trying to change our tickets so we ended up here a day latter than we had planned. It is so different here. The vibe is tranquile and sad at the same time.

Last night in Bangkok almost made us a bit more than humble! Tuk tuk trouble; details will be revealed upon arrival to home soil.

So... the rain did finally hit yesterday. We were on the Khao San rd again and the massive downpour produced at least 1 ft of rain. the streets were rivers. So; We danced! Its true. We did our best Gene Kelly and danced and sang while trying to get to a tuk tuk. This was done much to the amusement of the locals. One man offered us his whiskey(which isn't cheap there), he was so amused! We didn't take it.

We got to PP this afternoon. Cab driver was very nice and impressed with Sunita's Khmer. He talked about how things are getting better here after "3 years, 4 monthes and 20 days"of Pol Pot. Very sad...

We went directly to the FCC(foreign correspondance club), it is beautiful with french influence and views of Tonle Sap and Mekong river. We met a darling british woman, 75 yrs young. Yvonne, drank tea with us(we had beer ) and talked of all her travels. We should all be so lucky!
Pictures to come. Love you all same same but different!

View Photos or die! Chatta means...

Gentle ladies and gents,
Chatta means "shut the fuck up". This is our kinder more buddist way of telling people where to stick it. The only music we get in our hotel room is Englebert Humperdink. He comes on every morning at 6am. We cant wait!! " Why do birds suddenly appear", not yet folks....
Jet lag has sucked! We will stay awake tonight, damn it Jim!

China town has got nothing on SF.!! shitty. blisters on me soles!/souls... Chatta!
Love you all.
Terry if you dont chatta about Sigs, no t-shirt for you!
=Ruby, look at the damn pictures!

All Ya'll Chatta! We are here! You are there!

We arrived in Bangkok two days ago. Having incredibly awsome time. Got taken by Tuk Tuk. Story to follow. Khao San road, massive backpacker haven; much to buy. Massage; not that kind, Terry; get over Sigs! Michael pics are coming. Check pic sight soon. Got blessed by monk in temple. Said prayer for peace and safe trip.
Danced in the alley to barter and it worked surprisingly well. Sunita got smacked on the ass with a wink after. I got better price! Whose your daddy?
Love and miss you all,
j and s
